My Favorite "F" Word

Continuing the "Best News Friday" tradition (I was born on a Friday night, so it's a long standing tradition), I will deliver my current update today. A lot has been going on, and it deserves a big recognition!

The week has been a bit of a roller coaster emotionally speaking, but overall it has been great!

On the not-so-cool side, totally sounding like a Debbie Downer, this week I went to a small shop to get a plant for my office and I saw an old man there who looked a lot like my grandfather. I had to do a double take because I was startled for a split second. My gramps passed away about a year ago, the day after I got engaged. I was in Paris, he was in Puerto Rico, and it was a strange experience to process.
Me & Gramps, circa 1985

Ironically my work is helping others deal with their emotions, while I process mine holding on to logic and continuous reasoning. When I saw that old man on that chair, who smiled at me and pointed out at the beautiful orchids beside him, I was basically punched in the face by grief. (it felt pretty literal, by the way) The side effect of that: I didn't run, I didn't exercise, I had to stay home and actually deal with my feelings (with the assistance of some chocolate ice cream, of course). His birthday is this month also which doesn't help either.  My wedding is coming up soon and it makes me wonder if I'll be grieving through it.
We shall see...

Overexcited Becca is overexcited
On the AWESOME side, I had my official meeting with the LLS Team in Training folks and I proudly signed up for the Miami marathon. I assume that I'll be that excited when I sign my marriage certificate- I almost broke the pen, paper, and clip board! Over excitement overtook me.

I got to meet one of the coaches, the mentors, and the organizers. There will be plenty of upcoming events to mingle with the rest of the team members.

Another HUGE step forward: The fundraising has begun! My LLSTNT page is set, and Team #JoelleStrong is on the move! I'm extremely happy, honored, and touched that the "First responders" have been our high school classmates. (Once a Blue Lady, always a Blue Lady!) It is so amazning to see our class [virtually] come together to help the team move forward! I am feeling truly blessed, and my hopes to keep moving forward are high as a kite.

To those who are donating, from the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH. (Gratitude has no netiquette, sorry!)

Happy Friday, y'all!
