Joyeux Mardi Gras!!!

Today has been a special day overall. It's my late gramps birthday (RIP), I've been having some quality time with my momma, and we are celebrating my chapter's LLS Team in Training kickoff!
Walking into the event, seeing all the people committed to the cause, and meeting folks celebrating their [other] birthday has been very emotional for us (remember, I don't cry).

It feels like Mardi Gras as well: starting tomorrow my "diet" and training gets serious.  I've been resting in the past week because my right knee has been bugging me. I did see my new [sports med] doctor, and my awesome [soon-to-be] bro-in-law saw me earlier today to do my MRI.
The result: I do NOT have a torn MCL or meniscus. [Maury voice] the other result: I have to do core exercises to beef up a bit. We shall see how my ADD brain adapts to  gym environment.

So, I've celebrated this by having a nice lunch, and some tiramisu cake and wine with my mom. Since it is the day to celebrate many wonderful things without guilt we are partying away!

Starting tomorrow there will be no more tiramisu... Or much wine... [with the exception of my wedding! ] so I don't run regretting my past food decisions.

Another reason I'm glad I'm doing this is that Joelle is doing much better (although currently battling nausea), and although she won't be able to make it to my wedding (for obvious health reasons) I'll probably Skype her in. That idea gave me the other idea of web broadcasting the marathon in some way. I'm not sure how, but worst case scenario I'll do something creative with "Find My Phone" or other stalker-like apps.

Until tomorrow, at the crack of dawn!

  2. Worry not, dear! The LLS Team in Training peeps provided us with a GREAT team of coaches + mentors to keep an eye on us and avoid injuries and other disasters. (I'm no longer training alone)
(also, I *will* finish that marathon, even if I have to crawl my way there or ride on the front bumper of the ambulance.) :D
