Gratitude is an overwhelming feeling. It's a positive one, of course, which fills up your heart enough to make you wonder if the overload will make it blow up. One thing I've learned about gratitude is that making it dynamic is the best way to keep it alive. You see, saying "thank you" is always a great way to start, but it sort of ends there. Showing gratitude by paying it forward ensures that we, as humans within the same space, keep "the ball rolling" around enough for one to share that selfless amount of love with the rest.
It's been my special project this year (I don't want to use the word "resolution") to give as much love forward as I receive. Believe me, I get a lot of love- probably more than I even deserve! From unconditional love from my parents, amazing loving support from my husband, and our puppy's cuddly affection, to every blessing I receive (I tried counting my blessings, but i lost count), it is my goal to keep sharing forward whenever possible.

Team #JoelleStrong: Keepin' Strong |
This year, after finishing the Team in Training event in Miami, raising $3,600 for LLS, and seeing Joelle recover beautifully, I've been given another chance at paying it forward by becoming a mentor for my local LLS- Team in Training group. Besides feeling very honored to join the team, I am thankful because I had an excellent mentor guiding me through my season. It wasn't easy for anyone involved: my experience was nontraditional: training + fundraising... +wedding planning + work + health curve balls + honeymoon trip. I confess having felt like giving up enough times to feel ashamed about it, but my LLS mentor was one of the folks there cheering me on- for which I am grateful.
My personal goal (besides being the best darn cheerleader I can be) is to run in my beloved
New Orleans come January. This would bring my love for my [former] hometown to a full circle: I'll pay it forward in the city that gave me so much. I have plenty of friends still living there to share this special moment with, and as a mentor I'd also serve as a personal tour guide to my mentees. How. Freaking. Cool?!
Tomorrow is our first official meeting, and I'm beyond excited! I did get new running shoes for a new season (and I am totally over my runner's toe crisis and end-of-semester exhaustion), and I wouldn't mind running with
Muses'
d Running Shoes (with Mardi Gras near by).
Bring on the SPARKLES! LET'S DO THIS!
The Mrs.
