Every day I'm Purpling!

Greetings, Purple Fighters!

We've been very busy this month planning and preparing for an amazing season ahead. There's so much going on, and so much more to do, that I haven't had a break to stop and blog... until now. I hope y'all consider the new (updated) logo to be of your linking. I loved the "bride" title a lot, but this new Mrs. degree is quite an amazing update! ;)

Among the perks of being a mentor is meeting my group of mentees. I have to admit that I have a pretty amazing team lined up. We are currently planning our official kickoff event, the promotional events to get more folks to sign up, the training events we have this semester, along with the official Purple Day event, and our individual fundraising plans.

As for Team #JoelleStrong, she's doing FAN-TAS-TIC. In fact, she's been celebrating life like a boss! I was able to see her during her visit home recently, and she was able to receive the Miami Marathon's memorabilia and gifts I had for her. It's pretty awesome that she got to wear her honorary Puerto Rico Team in Training jersey for the LA Relay for Life survivor's lap.
Got Motivation?

For this new season there's a new name joining my lucky jersey. Towards the end of this last semester we learned that another one of my high school classmates is fighting cancer. As scary as this is, she's taken upon this challenge like a champ! This courageous mother of 3 has her heart full of faith, and even more full of love for her family. #TeamJoelle was added in bright green for lymphoma, and #TeamRhaiza will be added in teal for cervical cancer, so stay tuned for the updated version!

Those of you interested in joining Team in Training this season, we start in August, so don't forget to sign up or contact us to join: I'll be taking my awesome team to my old hometown of N'awlins! (now you really have to join us, it'll be SO much fun!) If you want a reason or motivation, here's Mrs. Joelle herself to inspire you.

Meanwhile I'll leave you with a blog post from The Oatmeal about marathons (which made me laugh hysterically):  http://theoatmeal.com/comics/marathon_do

GEAUX TEAM!
