Same-Same (but different)

Sabaidee, everyone!

I apologize for the extreme delay of this blog post, but I've been a bit busy... honeymooning. We've returned from an amazing trip around Southeast Asia, which has now left me with a little souvenir (in my throat) that has kept me busy this past week.

We spent all of our Christmas holidays between Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, and it was like a nice (or more romantic) version of an Indiana Jones film and the "Indochine" film. I did run during the trip, which sounds crazy, but with the marathon a couple of weeks away, there's no other option. One. Must. Run.

We also got to walk. A lot. (like, all of Angkor Wat and Angkor Tom, plus the SR town) So by the end of this trip, regardless of my fraile throat (and lack of voice), I think we developed buns of steel. Other awesome perks: I got to learn how to say "thank you" in 3 languages, we were able to support small business artisans while souvenir shopping and through our lodging, I got to feed elephants, and we took a Thai cooking class... in Thailand. (yum x 100)
I also got to stay in touch with our families and friends, namely Miss #JoelleStrong herself, who sent me the most AWESOME iMessage for new years:
"Not to interrupt your honeymoon, but wanted you to know. Love you, thanks for all the support!! I just got an email from the oncologist- "PET/CTs are fine, no lymphoma anywhere"!!!!! :) "

We were in Siem Reap at the time, and our last 2013 dinner became much more exciting than it already was. Upon our return home I've seen how she's doing and everything seems to be going back to normal at its own pace, including going back to work. She has to keep a box thing in her chest where the chemo meds were plugged into until October, but by then we might see her starring in Vidal Sasoon or Pantene ads all over California. All I can think is What a journey! (and I'm not talking about the trip)

The Miami Marathon is around the corner, and I've received all kinds of paperwork and instructions which I'm still sorting out (rookie runner, remember?) and I'm super happy my husband and some friends will be there too. I've tried not to think about it too much so the idea of the distance doesn't overwhelm me, so instead I'm focusing in figuring out where exactly I'm supposed to stand that day.

Until before the marathon!
Mrs. B

PS: I leave you with some honeymoon photos and credits.
